POWERFUL TOGETHER: launching our partnership with Nina Write

A few months ago Arrivals Gate started a new ART project partnership with Nina Write, the amazing stationery company from Rio.  Our first shawl was named POWERFUL TOGETHER and its launch was scheduled to happen today (Mar, 29th / 2020) at a Botanical Garden in Miami.

With the world's current situation, our focus shifted from new launchings and sales to the safety of our co-workers, family, friends and neighbors. We stopped all operations and both companies are maintaining all previous commitments with production and employment.

The inspiration message for this shawl and our partnership was created long before this difficult period we are all experiencing. At this point we are not offering our art, but the inspiration behind it:

Powerful Together

Behavior and movement of ants are the inspiration for this pattern, originally illustrated in nankin on paper by Nina Write. The concept of swarm intelligence in the ant colony is used by scientists from different countries as a base of study for artificial intelligence, the building of robots, and autonomous navigation.

Ants are super intelligent social insects that live collaboratively and work as one system, as neurons in one brain. They have unique forms of communication through pheromones, have a sophisticated navigation system, produce antibiotics and vaccines to protect the colony, and work together to perform complex tasks such as finding food and new nests.

The aim of this work of art is to show how important it is for people to work cooperatively, while protecting and providing comfort to each individual. At the same time, it reveals how insignificant we are when we are disconnected and finally illustrates how stronger we can be when we act socially connected. Powerful together.

This shawl is hand-made in pure cashmere by Arrivals Gate. It is woven from ultra-soft and fleecy hair from the chest, neck, and underbelly of goats that live in high altitudes of the Himalayan Mountains.  It is very soft and lightweight. It takes days to produce this special shawl, and its purchase supports Nepalese communities.
